About Me

Paula Tran is a Calgary-based journalist whose work has been featured in Xtra Magazine, QP Briefing, Spacing, Indiegraf Publisher, Global News and many more. She is a digital coordinator and reporter for Global Calgary’s radio station, 770 CHQR.

Prior to Global, Paula was a multimedia reporter for the Kelowna Capital News and a freelance journalist in Toronto. She is the former news editor for On the Record News (formerly called the Ryersonian), one of X University’s (formerly known as Ryerson University) student papers.

Paula holds a Master of Journalism degree from X University and a Combined Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia.

She specializes in daily news journalism, feature and longform writing. She covers power and politics, climate change, race issues, stories from the Asian diaspora, LGBTQ2S+ issues and identity politics.
