Paula Tran is an Ottawa-based journalist whose work has been featured in Xtra Magazine, QP Briefing, Spacing, Indiegraf Publisher, Global News and many more. She is a criminal justice reporter for the Ottawa Citizen, focusing a lot of her time on covering criminal justice policy and courts.

Before working at Postmedia, Paula was an education reporter for LiveWire Calgary and an online journalist for Global News. She is the former online coordinator for QR Calgary, where she produced web stories and radio voicers, and a former journalist for the Kelowna Capital News.

Paula holds a Master of Journalism degree from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and a Combined Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia.

She specializes in daily news journalism, feature and longform writing. She covers power and politics, climate change, race issues, stories from the Asian diaspora, LGBTQ2S+ issues and identity politics.
